I wonder if it's a coincidence or not, then. It's not like rats don't turn up where they aren't wanted all the time, so I guess it'd apply to large ones too, but...it's strangely convenient.
Maybe it's just how people who aren't on the network interact with this kinda stuff? I mean... If you think about what Maurice said about learning stuff the right way or whatever, and how learning more means you're more at risk, maybe you wouldn't have been a nasty rat target in the first place back then.
