CHARACTER: CANON SECTION
NAME: Nobunaga Oda
AGE: Died at 48 years old, technically 482 by our current year.
CANON: Fate/

CANON HISTORY:
Nobunaga's history in life mirrors her historical self, save for the fact she was a woman. If necessary I've done a write up about all of that here if you guys want it.

To briefly summarise her canon experiences:
- Nobunaga was summoned during the imperial holy grail war, servant Archer to her Master, Artoria. She assisted her Master in combating the third reich, who were performing experiments with the grail to amass an army of heroic spirits to conquer the world. There, she clashed with Okita Souji frequently, culminating in her sacrificing her own life to materialise the grail, so Okita could use it to become Majin Saber and defeat Caster, who had used the grail to turn his master into an unkillable monster.
- In the grand order timeline, there isn't much information available on what happens prior to her appearance in the game, but what is known is she got her hands on the grail in that universe. She had it transformed into a bomb which, when detonated, sent both her and Okita into the world of grand order. One fifth of her power also transformed into an army of Nobunaga clones, which were scattered all across time and began attacking everything in sight. When all of them were defeated, it was revealed that the Nobunaga alongside the party was one of the clones which had evolved into a perfect copy. Once defeated, the real Nobunaga appears (she had gone to use the bathroom in the meantime) and announces she's going to kill everyone and take over, only for Okita to smack her and tell her to knock it off.
- During the garden of order event, another Nobunaga appears in the apartment complex the party is climbing with Shiki, complaining that although Honnoji was her event, everyone has forgotten about her in favour of Okita. So she decides to take over the currently running event and use it as a foundation to produce her "Nobu no Kyoukai" event (a parody of kara no kyoukai) but is defeated. Okita arrives back to the apartment shortly afterwards with ice cream, which causes Nobunaga to calm down. Turns out she was just feeling lonely.
- Nobunaga appears a second time during the prisma corps event, but she honestly has nothing to do with it at all. Illya even asks what dark force is controlling her to behave like a magical girl much like the rest of the female servants, but Nobunaga laughs off the idea of anyone ever controlling or bossing her around. In fact, the thought offends her so much she fights the party anyway, even though there's no reason to. Aside that it's more nonsense, like how she still hasn't gotten a sequel to her own event and it's a travesty of the highest order.
- Nobunaga's last appearance in the grand order story is the final chapter, where all of the servants the protagonist has interacted with return to assist them in fighting the demon gods. Nobunaga and Okita assist in fighting Andromalius, the final pillar, and while Nobunaga has difficulty fighting the demon gods due to them lacking any true divinity, Okita struggles fighting for a prolonged battle due to the fact she still has her illness from her lifetime. Fuuma Kotarou shows up to support them, but he mentions he hates Nobunaga because she's a samurai, but thinks Okita is alright. Nobunaga accuses him of having been simply seduced by her thighs and he's making excuses.
- During the Epic of Remnant interlude, Nobunaga finally gets the long awaited sequel to her event, Guda guda 2. Her niece, Chacha, suddenly appears in Chaldea and requests their assistance in overthrowing the Oda shogunate, much to her surprise given she'd never heard of any Oda Shogunate before (or established one, for that matter). When they arrive in the singularity, it's revealed to be spearheaded by Nobunaga Oda, but upon meeting the imposter, Nobunaga recognises him as her yonuger brother Nobukatsu, berating him in front of everyone for poorly launching an operation like this to the point he cries in front of everyone.
- It's also revealed that he's being opposed in his takeover by Hijikata Toshirou, head of the shinsengumi, who orders Okita to join him in defending the current status quo, while Nobukatsu expects his sister to help him. They both split up and join their respective forces, albeit with some reluctance. The Oda shogunate goes on to win the conflict, and Nobunaga heads to the shinsengumi headquarters to gloat over their victory.
- Afterwards, it's discovered that Nobukatsu is still plotting something behind everyone's backs, allying himself with Thomas Edison and Nikolai Tesla in manufacturing an army. When discovered, he flees the scene and is pursued by the joint Oda-Shinsengumi forces, with another battle breaking out. Nobunaga holds off Nobukatsu's main forces while Okita, Hijikata and the protagonist go around to take down the opposing armies generals. With his support gone, Nobukatsu flees again.
- After another battle against heroic spirits hastily summoned by Nobukatsu to stall his sister's approach, it's revealed that the mastermind of the singularity is the corpse of the demon pillar andras, manifesting as a false version of hideyoshi totoyomi. Upon defeating it, Nobunaga reconciles with Nobukatsu over their past and he fades away with Andras' defeat, the pillar being the only thing sustaining him.
- However, it's revealed that Hijikata was also summoned by the demon pillar, who was unable to accept his death on the battlefield and wanted his fighting to continue, because so long as he fights the shinsengumi will never die. The party is forced to kill Hijikata as well causing the singularity to finally collapse, with the party escaping back to Chaldea just in time.
- A few months later, the goddess Ishtar declares she's hosting a special race for the summer. Nobunaga opts to enter as one of the participants, even borrowing the Shinsengumi funds and Chacha's gold to fund her class change into a Berserker. The pair are less than enthusiastic about it however, trying to kill Nobunaga on the spot and forcing her to escape. With no support from her usual gang, she decides instead to partner up with mysterious heroine X, the pair entering into the race with a literal spaceship, although when Nobunaga's plan of simply flying over the battlefield in their ship is revealed, Ishtar shoots them down and declares it's against the rules.
- During the second round, when Boudica declares the rules of this particular course involve a game of chicken and driving as close to the edge of a volcano as you can, Nobunaga convinces MHX to drive straight into the vehicle, resulting in the volcano blasting the spaceship into the sky in the aftermath. Miraculously, they're fit enough following this to continue racing.
- In the climax of the race, Medb suddenly cuts it short and destroys the bridge everyone is crossing, dropping all the racers and Ishtar into her prison below ground. Nobunaga goes along with the other racers and the protagonist in their efforts to escape, and during the end of the event, assists everyone in defeating the bull of heaven after it's summoned by Ishtar.
- Lastly, because Nobunaga was summoned during her event and given when it happened, she'd have knowledge of every story chapter and event from London and onwards.

CANON PERSONALITY:

When describing Nobunaga’s character, it’s important to note that her historical self - that is to say her self when she was alive - and how she behaves as a servant following her death give off the impression of two completely different people. However, the two halves of her character aren’t divorced at all - it’s simply a result of context. How she behaves, how she treats others…it all depends on her current environment.

When she was alive, Nobunaga was the most influential person of her time, commanding a lot of authority, respect and even fear from the masses. She worked tirelessly towards the unification of her country; this didn’t just involve succeeding in warfare, but in winning the favour of her people as well. Nobunaga did care for the state of the people, even if her campaigns did lead to a lot of slaughter; she ensured roads were built between towns to improve trade routes, abolished monopolies to stimulate the economy, eased the burden of borrowing money with policies she put into place and even put funding into improving the state of the town surrounding her base of operations, gifu castle. She even did her best to abolish class privilege and appoint people in positions of power based on their merits instead. While she may have been merciless to her enemies, she at least tried to ensure those on her side were well taken care of.

…emphasis on tried. You see, Nobunaga was known for being an incredibly morose, no-nonsense type of person, with a temper you couldn’t predict even on the best of days. Mitsuhide Akechi is one of the most common examples of this; many of Nobunaga’s retainers simply tried to avoid Nobunaga’s temper, but Mitsuhide would often stay resolute when they disagreed, earning him Nobunaga’s ire to the point she’d even yell and berate him in front of everyone. Her blade, Heshikiri Hasebe, also gained its name from her personally murdering a tea master who insulted her. This wrath extended to the battlefield, as Nobunaga is remembered as a cruel and merciless warlord who had everyone in her way cut down; in some cases it could be simply her enemies, like the warrior monks of Mt.Hiei, but in others her merciless methods extended to women and children, such as the battle of Nagashino where the resistance she faced resulted in the complex being surrounded and set alight, sparing not even the civilians inside. She even executed soldiers who Mitsuhide Akechi had convinced to surrender peacefully.

However, although her general attitude did give off the impression of a misanthrope to most (and to an extent, this isn’t wrong; she cared for the state of Japan and its people, but most people as individuals rubbed her the wrong way), Nobunaga did have people she cared about. Her sister, Oichi, made her hesitant to storm the stronghold of Nagamasa Azai, for fear of hurting her in the process because she was inside (and before then, she had never once shown hesitation like this). Also of note is the fact that Nagamasa Azai himself, despite being a traitor she had killed and made his skull into a trophy, was someone she also genuinely liked. She would've been content having him as a brother in law, had war not intervened in their relationship. She also loved one of her wives, Lady Kitsuno, very dearly. When she died, Nobunaga locked herself away in her castle and mourned her wife through the whole night, even shedding tears for her, something many of her retainers never expected to see from a cold hearted demon king. Kitsuno's grave was placed in such a position that Nobunga could even watch it from within her room in her castle. Ranmaru Mori and Hideyoshi Totoyomi were also her closest allies in her actual forces, and she was good friends with both. Nobunaga did care for people, they were simply few and far between, and ultimately she had a general disdain for people, especially her family.

As a servant, however…first and foremost, although she had a high opinion of herself in life, it was tempered by the fact she was a serious person. Now that she’s completely let go of her serious personality, Nobunaga comes across as boisterous and proud. She’s haughty and self confident, egotistical to a fault and loves herself more than anything. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say Nobunaga’s ego is completely unbreakable; no matter what happens you can’t wear down her ego or make her doubt herself. This can actually make her seem very jovial too, as she speaks so proudly, so boisterously, often with a big grin accompanied by her rather unique, hearty laughter.

Having none of the responsibility she had in life, Nobunaga’s sees her life as a servant as a chance to take a well deserved break. Many servants are held back by past regrets which they can't help but angst about now and again, but Nobunaga is actually unique in that because Hideyoshi took on her legacy and unified Japan on her behalf, she has no regrets whatsoever. Furthermore, while she still retains her temper, it’s never portrayed as actually dangerous, and her mood will swing from angry to calm in no time at all as well, settling much quicker than it used to when she was alive. In one instance, if asked why she’s a woman and not a man as history recorded her, she threatens to decapitate the protagonist and make a trophy from their skull, but she doesn’t go through with it. Furthermore, she no longer holds grudges whatsoever. Some of her dialogue involves asking about the betrayal at honnoji, and she says she has no regrets about the whole thing, and that it can’t be helped. Because she’s dead and everything’s over and done with, she’s chilled out a hell of a lot. The flip side of this however is that she doesn’t regret any of the atrocities she committed; Nobunaga is, despite having a human side to her, a fairly amoral person. The deaths of all those people don’t burden her at all.

In fact…you might say she’s chilled out too much. Nobunaga is now an incredibly goofy person in some ways; she might not be an idiot, but she is a fool. Outside of grand order, she’s one of the main characters in an accompanying helper manga meant to talk about the game, but she’s portrayed as being really poor at promoting the game properly. She’s lazy and irresponsible, not only getting distracted and not talking about the game at all, she actually dislikes grand order most of the time, referring to it as “that shit game” and often watching tv or reading manga instead of actually playing the game. The only time she seemed genuinely enthusiastic about it was when her own inclusion was announced. In grand order itself, her appearances never have any serious tone to them. During garden of order, she complains Okita is much more popular among the fanbase than she is, despite the fact Honnoji was her event, deciding to hatch some stupid plan involving hijacking the event altogether. Furthermore, she shows up during the prisma corps event simply to complain that they have more funding now, so not only should they give her a second event, it should look as nice as this one does.

Nobunaga's wild, capricious nature is an extension of her fairly grounded belief from life that tradition and common sense weren't always to be relied on. While it once meant that tradition could sometimes impede progress, like the warrior monks who in effect had more authority and protection than the current emperor having to be dealt with, or that class privilege lead to idiots being in charge, nowadays...she just kind of does what she wants with that as an excuse. Blow up an incredibly dangerous artifact with enough energy to alter reality? Why not. Hijack a situation you have no real involvement in, as a means to increase your popularity? Sure.

The fact is, Nobunaga Oda does what she wants.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

As far as mundane skills go, Nobunaga was a soldier from a young age. She’s skilled in fighting with a sword, a spear, marksmanship (guns and bows) and horseback riding. Outside of that, Nobunaga was fairly competent in the arts, especially poetry and acting. She also possessed great intelligence, having a keen understanding of economics and politics. It could also be said she understood the hearts of people quite well too, considering she did quite a lot for their sake during her life, and she was popular with the people she ruled. (Just…not those who opposed her, for obvious reasons.)

As a servant, Nobunaga possesses superhuman aptitudes beyond that of a human. Even a servant with the lowest ranks possible in all of their stats are said to be above and beyond what a human can fight, while she possesses stats of B and higher, all of which can rise further (or fall) depending on her opponent. In effect it grants her super strength, durability, speed and reflexes. She also has supernatural senses and, as a servant of the Archer class, likely has very good eyesight.

Servants can enter spirit form, in which they become harder to detect (but far from impossible; that’s a skill in and of itself she doesn’t have) and lower their mana consumption. Nobunaga is also capable of flying by simply willing her body in the direction she wants to go.

All servants possess skills in a manner similar to what you’d find in a class based rpg system. To start off with the simpler ones, Nobunaga has access to two particular class skills, Magic Resistance and Independent Action. The former is exactly what it sounds like; at Rank B, she’s given incredible (but not perfect) resistance to magical based attacks. The latter allows her to operate independently of her Master, meaning she doesn’t need to rely on the mana they give her to operate. In effect, it means that while other servants can be controlled through denying the magical energy provided by their Master, which they need to live, Nobunaga can simply ignore this unless she decides to use her powers that consume heavy amounts of mana.

Her own personal skills are as follows.

Charisma is simply what it sounds like. Despite how she behaves at times, Nobunaga is very adept at influencing others through her words alone. She’s a naturally born leader who people may feel inclined to follow. She has rank B, which is described as being sufficient to lead an entire nation as its king. As a side effect of this, should someone enter combat with Nobunaga as her ally, Charisma will give them a buff to all of their stats so long as they fight under her banner.

Military tactics is simply a reflection of her strategic brilliance. She possesses Rank B, which puts her on par with the likes of Alexander the Great, Atilla the Hun and Julius Caesar. In a battle, this ups the power of her own anti-army noble phantasm and decreases the damage she takes from other anti-army noble phantasms. Basically it's a flavour skill.

Strategy is distinguished from Military tactics, described as "the ability to seize things in the broader perspective, such as diplomacy and logistics, in order to decide victory before the fighting even begins". I'm essentially just going to treat this as Aki regaining Nobunaga's genius, because during the guda guda 2 singularity she manages to work out everything that's happening, from the demon pillar to Hijikata's motivations, with ease. Essentially she's smart enough that it kind of borders on Bullshit and neatly fits beneath this skill's effect.

Demon King is a skill unique to her, which causes her to manifest as a demonic spirit, rather than a normal heroic spirit. Although she was human in life, buddhist monks referred to her as the demon king of the sixth heaven as a means to disparage her, a great evil that opposed buddhism, but she decided it sounded cool and adopted it. As a result, she has red eyes as an aesthetic effect and it's the reason her physical stats all rank as high as they do. Furthermore, it essentially grants her shapeshifting - it has no real defined limits, but keeping it within roughly humanoid shapes and sizes still stop it from being anything too unreasonable, hopefully, but aside from this she can change her appearance at will.

Lastly she possesses the Innovation skill, but a completely unique version of her own known as Tenka Fubu. Essentially, in Fate/ verse, there’s a rule applied to all magical entities that states the older something is, the more mystery it has, making it more powerful as a result. An easier way to use the term is to equate Mystery to supernatural elements beyond the understanding of science. With this skill however, Nobunaga completely turns this on its head; the more mystery her enemy possesses or the more divinity her enemy possesses, the stronger Nobunaga becomes. Her stats all receive buffs, as well as her weapons (which I'll explain in its own section below). Examples of mystery include the likes of King Arthur, who possesses the heritage of a dragon and associated with the fae, Medusa, who was the gorgon of greek myth and possessed high divinity herself, or even Jack the Ripper who, despite being a modern hero, possesses mystery due to the fact she never truly existed, that her identity itself was a mystery and that the murders she committed were never solved, making them a mystery itself. It’s a very, very broad category.

Finally, Nobunaga possesses two Noble Phantasms - these are weapons that embody the legend of the heroic spirit who possesses them.

Her first and most commonly used Noble Phantasm is three thousand worlds. It gives her the use of three thousand flintlock rifles she can summon and command at will; it isn’t uncommon for her to summon them directly into her hands and fire them that way, but she’s capable of summoning them in midair and controlling them at will, allowing them to fly freely through the air and position themselves before taking a shot. Although flintlock rifles are super weak as far as noble phantasms go, if her tenka fubu skill is in effect, the rifles rise in power. Their base power is E rank; it’s not very effective, and it’s said that at this level they rely on sheer numbers to damage her opponents rather than being effective by themselves. However, if they reach a high enough rank, even a single bullet can be devastating; Sakamoto Ryoma’s noble phantasm, like a soaring dragon, summons his partner oryuu, a dragon in human form. Although she possesses power allowing her to overpower the average heroic spirit pretty handily, Tenka Fubu allowed Nobunaga to overpower her in a single shot from her gun, and if the battle hadn’t been interrupted by the arrival of an army of the third reich’s heroic spirits, she would’ve been killed. However, against Okita Souji (granted, with the backing of every other member of the shinsengumi at the same time), she was eventually defeated on account of them all possessing no mystery and overwhelming her with numbers. The rifles also possess their own unique effect which boosts their power even more against opponents with the riding skill. Another way to put it is, if the target is riding a mount, the same applies. It’s said that against someone with high mystery, divinity and riding, her rifles produce some kind of “crazy effect”, and since the mobile game grand order depicts her noble phantasm as firing lasers…I’m gonna say it’s lasers.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST Nobunaga’s trump card, and the “true noble phantasm of Nobunaga Oda” as described in her profile: Papiyas, the demon king of the sixth heaven. Papiyas is a reality marble which, when activated, appears to transport herself and her chosen targets to an alternate world entirely (this is how it looks; it’s more complicated than this, but I won’t get into that) sustained entirely by Nobunaga herself, leaving everyone else behind. For Nobunaga, this manifests as the scene of Mt.Hiei; a ruined buddhist temple that she desecrated in the name of her ambition. The ground is littered with debris and corpses, everything is set aflame, and you can’t even see the sky past the smoke. Its main effect is pretty simple; for a regular human being, although they might find it a little humid and uncomfortable, Papiyas is sincerely not much of a threat to them. However, the more mystery/divinity the target possesses, the more painful it becomes to simply exist here, and if left in this world for long enough they’re simply erased from existence. It can be absolutely devastating against opponents like these, simply because they not only have to deal with the fact they’re slowly being erased from existence, but Nobunaga is still there and fully capable of fighting with all of the tools she had at her disposal even outside of Papiyas. The only thing about this noble phantasm is, as a reality marble, the mana consumption is immense. She wouldn't be able to sustain it for very long, so it's definitely not sustainable for a prolonged fight, and once it wears off everyone is returned immediately to where they were prior.

CHARACTER: AU SECTION
AU NAME: Akinobu Taira
AU AGE: 19
PHYSICAL DIFFERENCES: Brown eyes instead of red. Hair only down to her shoudler blades. Otherwise, same as Nobunaga.

AU HISTORY:

- Born to a wealthy family in Japan
- Had a younger brother (Yanagi in-game, with Pear's permission!) and an unnamed older brother.
- Father was absent and Mother wasn't her biggest fan, often putting her down and pushing her hard to succeed in not only school but numerous after school activities. The pressure, combined with the neglect and lack of affection from her parents, caused Aki to grow up distancing herself from others as a result.
- Lacked any real friends growing up either, with only a scarce few exceptions such as Yuuko Kanoe (who has since dropped.)
- Lost her friendship with Yuuko when her parents divorced and she moved in with her Mother's new husband sometime later, gaining a younger stepsister in the process (Kouran, with Mori's permission!)
- Also had a butler she was especially fond of, who acted as a substitute father and for all intents and purposes she considered her real father anyhow, given the neglect and abuse she suffered from her biological parents respectively.
- One day during high school she skipped out for a day to spend time with her then girlfriend in an act of teenage rebellion. Her mother flipped her shit, firing the butler and ensuring the girl would never see Aki again.
- By this point she lost all hope of finding happiness in Japan. Finishing school, she decided the night before she was moving to Tokyo to live with relatives to attend college to run away.
- In the middle of the night, she packed her things, grabbed some cash and took the first flight out of the country, which happened to be Recolle.
- Over the years in the city, she's managed to find a job at the arcade in tisse as a clerk, as well as her own apartment.
- Reclusive, spends most of her spare time playing video games, which she sometimes streams.

AU PERSONALITY:

- While Aki retains a lot of Nobunaga's personality, it's merely presented differently because of her circumstances.
- Firstly, because she's a human born and raised in the modern era, she lacks the morals a typical sengoku era samurai would have. Killing, murder and death aren't normal, every day occurrences, so things like that would disturb her up close.
- Secondly, because she's not a servant, she isn't as blasé about her own life. She values it the same as any human would, so the idea of doing crazy reckless things like blowing up a wellspring of infinite magical energy wouldn't ever occur to her.
- Because she never had to lead legions of soldiers into battle or garner the respect of others through the very methods that earned her the demon king title, Aki isn't as loud, boisterous or authoritative as Nobunaga. She still is to a degree, but it's more "someone who can take charge when she has to" as opposed to "arrogant king who crushes dissent and never falters in her actions".
- Also, since Aki isn't aware of the fourth wall and lacks the ability to smash it into pieces through gags and references, she's not as jovial as Nobunaga is. Her personality is more grounded and serious than Nobunaga, more in line with her historical self but without the amorality. She actually has a sense of humour, but it's nowhere near as overblown as Nobunaga's once she became a servant.
- Because her AU history involved losing people she cared about a lot, Aki is more appreciative of her close friends and family, to the point she'd put them as a top priority compared to Nobunaga, who is absolutely willing to kill her close friends and family if she feels they're in the way of the greater good and only she can accomplish it.
- Because Aki spent much of her time growing up without friends and her time in Recolle essentially a recluse, she's not quite as socially aware as Nobunaga. She may come across as cold and distant, but the truth is she's just kind of awkward in the way any shut in nerd would be. Pauses or delayed responses are simply her way of masking this.
- Despite this, she is in effect more empathetic than Nobunaga as a result of her upbringing. Nobunaga was able to escape her Mother (who tried to kill her) and her rebellious relatives by crushing them without mercy, going through life as top dog, unopposed. By comparison, Aki was stuck under her mother's thumb and subject to her whims, suffering to a degree because of it, and so understands others suffering a lot more and is surprisingly more compassionate for it, despite appearing more stoic and aloof.
- Aside from these changes, she's the same old Nobunaga. Anime girl on the outside, shitty old man on the inside.
